An alternative to the mushroom - technical article in Krafthand 01/2022 on tire repairs
In cooperation with our expert Dr. Johann Schlögl published an article in Krafthand 01/2022 about professional tire repairs with repair strings and how they differ from repair mushrooms. D he Krafthand is a technically oriented trade journal for the automotive trade. The technology magazine has been published by Krafthand Medien GmbH in Bad Wörishofen with 24 issues per year since 1927. The target group and readership of the specialist magazine are independent and brand-bound vehicle workshops as well as system workshops.
The issue now published on January 22, 2022 focuses on the advantages of tire repairs with repair strings compared to repairs with mushrooms. The biggest difference in the repair process is that the tire is not damaged by a hole when repaired with the Nuoka tire repair system, which has to be drilled with a special cutter when repairing with the mushroom. Furthermore, the roughening of the inner liner, which is only one millimeter thick, is no longer necessary with the Nuoka tire repair system. The resulting benefits are obvious. On the one hand, this avoids further damage to the wire mesh and carcass during repairs, and on the other hand, repairs can be made with a steeper puncture angle. The latter means that puncture wounds with a puncture angle of up to 40 degrees can be easily repaired with the Nuoka tire repair system. For comparison: when repairing a tire with a mushroom, the maximum puncture angle is only 6 degrees.
However, the expert also points out that the Nuoka tire repair system pays more attention to the damage in the tire compared to the fungus. The reason for this is that the repair body runs along the entry channel of the object that caused the damage to the tire. With the mushroom, on the other hand, a hole is milled around the entry channel of the object with the disadvantages mentioned above.
Another advantage of the Nuoka tire repair system are the regular stress tests that are carried out as part of quality assurance. Since tires are highly safety-relevant components, the opinion of an independent tester is particularly important here, emphasizes the expert.
